I messed up two saddles of my Gibson Triumph in an attempt to correct the ridiculous angle of the bridge and the resulting misalignment over the neck...

Any of you guys got a set of saddles for sale?
(for the Gibson three point bridge)

The Bass Zone / GOV’T MULE WELCOMES NEW BASS PLAYER: Jorgen Carlsson

GOV’T MULE WELCOMES NEW BASS PLAYER

New Bassist Jorgen Carlsson To Debut on Fall Tour

Balancing evocative songs and expressive improvisation, Gov't Mule is a band rooted in both the personal and musical chemistry between its members. "It's not one of those groups that can make a change overnight," explains founding guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes. It is only after six months of rehearsing, jamming, and hanging out with bassist Jorgen Carlsson that he has been added to the band as their new permanent bass player, replacing Andy Hess, who joined in 2003.

When founding bassist Allen Woody passed away in 2000, Haynes explains, "We were faced with the daunting task of replacing a one-of-a-kind musician, which I'm sure was intimidating for Andy, who did a wonderful job and brought his own personality into the music. Jorgen's style is somewhere between Woody's and Andy's. He brings some of Woody's aggressive spirit back although he is very much his own man." Carlsson was born in Sweden and has been active as a session musician and studio owner since arriving in the US in 1991.

Founded by Haynes, Woody, and drummer Matt Abts in 1994 as a power-trio, Gov't Mule has, over the course of eight studio albums, several more live projects, and over 1300 concert performances, built both an extensive, evolving body of work and a devoted fan base. In addition, the band has sold 1.5 million downloads on its website mule.net, sold over one million albums, and received a Grammy nomination. Keyboardist Danny Louis joined as a full-time member in 2003. With Hess leaving to pursue other opportunities, Haynes sees the addition of Jorgen as connecting the past and future of Gov't Mule: "Having worked with Jorgen over the last several months, we are very excited to explore some new directions while at the same time going back a little closer to our roots."

On September 16th, Gov't Mule will release the double live DVD The Tale of Two Cities, which spans the entire preceding era of the band with Andy Hess on bass. It is composed of two complete shows filmed the first date of the fall 2004 Deja Voodoo tour and the last date of the winter 2006 High and Mighty tour.

Gov't Mule's Kinder Revolution fall tour begins on October 30 and runs through November 22nd, and includes performances on Halloween at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, two night stands at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis and the Fillmore in San Francisco, shows at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford, CT, and more. Following the tour, Gov't Mule will, for the seventh year in a row, celebrate the new year with a series of performances in New York City: two acoustic shows on December 27th and 28th at the Angel Orensanz Center in the Lower East Side, then two electric shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom on December 30th and 31st, with the New Years' Eve show featuring the traditional three sets.

Gibson Basses / Mini Thunderbird - Mandobird
« on: August 06, 2008, 04:41:46 AM »
Way back in the Dudepit MkI era someone in the Gibson forum bought an Epi Mandobird for his (then) little son and put on heavy strings.
A mini Thunderbird!

Does anyone of you guys remember this?
And do you know if this works? Does the poor litle neck survive the tension? And what about the tuners?

Gibson Basses / BaCHbird
« on: April 09, 2008, 12:21:39 AM »
Yep that's right, the old BaCHbird topic has been erased on my request.
I just didn't feel comfortable anymore with this topic running "out of hand"

When I started about a year ago -at the former Dudepit-  the goal was to gather 20 enthousiasts to help each other realise this dream.
In the meanwhile I have over 50 people who joined in.

To all participants: don't worry, the project is still on.
I have your email addresses and I will keep you informed through email.

We could use this new topic to discuss related stuff. But I really would like to keep this BaCHbird project under the radar till it's a wrap.
I hope you will understand/respect that.

cheers, Rob

Gibson Basses / G4 prototype
« on: March 31, 2008, 04:03:43 AM »
At a gig I did last week a guy in the audience spotted my Gibson Les Paul Bass. After the gig he came to me and said he had a Gibson bass too, but he had not used it in twenty years. When I asked him what model it is he said it's a G4. I told him he must mistaken. Gibson only made the G3. He said oh well maybe you're right.
But since the G3 has been on my wish list for quite a while I asked him if he'd consider selling it. He wasn't sure, but he asked me for my email address, so he could send pictures.

Here's what he sent me today.... :o

He's asking 450 euro for it.
I'm going to pick it up tomorrow!

The Outpost Cafe / Superfloor - Kharma Baby
« on: March 15, 2008, 06:32:59 AM »
Yeehaaa! Our new CD is here.
Yesterday they came in from the factory.
And on that very same day the first review came in too! (I sent them an advance copy)

RETROROCK/BLUES/SOUL
SUPERFLOOR
KHARMA BABY

A few years ago Superfloor had the honour to open Arrow Classic Rock on the very same stage where later that day archetypical rock representants like Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy would perform. An ambiance where the quartet, that was founded in 1997, felt right at home. Once started as a blues cover band the quartet has developed into a rock group that should be reckoned with. Hard rockin' blues for the soul is what they call it themselves. Not a word of Chinese in there, Kharma Baby to bear witness. In two songs the band is assisted by Rob Lamothe, ex-frontman of The Riverdogs. Mellotones' Mike Donkers provided the affair with a steady production. Across a solid paved foundation, laid down by rhythm tandem Thomas Calis and Rob van den Broek, guitarist Frank van der Wiel collects appealing power riffs and well oiled solos by the dozen. Black Crowes and Led Zeppelin spring to mind at first ear, but just as well influences of -let's say- Ginger Baker's Airforce and Stone The Crowes throw their weight about. Because of the heavy groove and the rough sanded voice of front woman Floor Kraaijvanger the trash soul of Now Time Delegation is never far away. And let's be honest; her soulful strut is -without any doubt- the highest trump of this highly inflammable quartet. High time for a reprise at Arrow Classic Rock.
MARCEL HAERKENS. Oor Magazine nr. 03 April 2008.

Here's one song off Kharma Baby:

And a one minute sample

Hope you dig it  :)

Gibson Basses / any idea what pickup this is?
« on: March 06, 2008, 12:40:56 PM »
They think it's either a Melody Maker pickup or a Les Paul Signature bass pickup.
But I'm quite sure it's neither of both...

My best guess is that it isn't even a Gibson pickup. But maybe a Maxxon copy of a Gibson Lo-z...
But the dimensions are weird: 3" x 1" x 1" ( that 3" must be wrong...)

What do you guys think?
