WWII in HD The Air War
« on: November 06, 2010, 08:28:12 AM »

I do enjoy a lot of what's on The History Channel and since a number of us are WWII aircraft buffs I thought I'd mention this Wednesday's lineup includes a new episode about the U.S. 8th Airforce.

It's evidently all color and mostly unseen footage - I'm there!

Figures...

Probably why I have so many problems... ;D

I have a great book about James Stewart when he was over here, and his time in the USAF... even got his Mach2 badge in a B58 iirc

I recorded something about the history of American bombers last week, and a great prog on the B52 - incredible to think that they may have been in service for heading for 100 years before finally being retired...

There's a saying amongst the BUFF guys "when they retire the last (B-1 or B-2) the crew will fly home in a B-52".
It just brings up images of one of my fave movies of all time, Dr Strangelove. Slim Pickens, George C. Scott and Peter Sellers are all brilliant!  ;D
