How many 63's with Deluxe features have we seen for sale?
As long as the carcass is there, the neck is functional and the numbered jack plate is there, this bass can come back to life as a restored real '63. And sell for a lot of money. As long as the restoration is done properly.
The real shame is the missing part of the binding on top. I'm sure this can be taken care of by a skilled luthier. Then a refin in an opaque CV color can hide the abuse. I'd go with Jetglo as this has been RIC's traditional choice for less attractive bodies.
It's an expensive restoration but think of the end result.
