The Bass Zone / Re: Bass Backbone
« on: February 21, 2008, 07:01:19 AM »
But back to the original topic. Think about it. The bass is the Backbone. Without the bass guitar so much popular music would be empty. People dance to the bass and drums.

That being said there are a lot of songs that feature the bass. Some of my favorites:

White Wedding by Billy Idol
Twilight Zone by Golben Earring
Money by Pink Floyd
Travelling Light by Hermans Hermits
The ballad of you and me and Poneil by Jefferson Airplane

Dang! I haven't heard Love's version of My Little Red Book in years. However there was a little known group from the Midwest called The Litter that did a more energetic version of this song that kicked ass.  It was on one of their two albums, I think it was "Emerge".

We have had the Focus for quite some time, but I think it's a completely different car.

Although the new Focus on the Ford site looks pretty spiffy, the Focuses seen on American roads are just unremarkable compact cars.

Imagine if Lennon Murphy's last name was McCartney.

I looked at some of the videos last night and voted. This morning I actually read the LA Times article and voted again.  And again just now. If you just close all your browser windows you can vote again after you open the site again. Maybe that's how the second runner-up in the review is leading the poll by a mudslide. But as I understand it this is only a poll of 11 of the contestants that the LA Times likes, and that Disney has chosen the unannounced 20 semi-finalists of which they will choose 10 finalists. The voting on the finalists opens March 2, and I don't doubt your brother-in-law will be there.

Wow.  Well Jean Michel Jarre doesn't look like her, but for some reason I've been retro-nostalgia mode and listening to the Oxygene-Equinox-Magenetic Fields Triology alot the last couple of weeks.  Way ahead of his time, and *ahhh* ANALOG synth.  I miss them... :'(

Jarre! Images and Chronologie are in my recently played pile, I have Oxygene and Equinox, but didn't know they were 2/3rd's of a trilogy. I'll have to start looking for Magnetic Fields, I guess. BTW my favorite is Jean Michel Jarre in Concert/Houston Lyons. One show I would have liked to seen.

Gibson Basses / Re: Gibson revamps site (and GoW turns into GoM)

Is Uwe working for Gibson now? They too are claiming that black pickup covers sound better.

Quote from: gibson.com

the Thunderbird IV is equipped with Gibson's new TB Plus ceramic magnet humbuckers with black covers to deliver a massive, powerful bass tone.

I tried TI Jazz Flats on my bird and didn't like it at all. However I took them off and put them on my Rick and they sound great there.

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Sam Ash carrying Phil Jones amps?
« on: February 06, 2008, 07:20:56 PM »
I have just one Ashdown, an ABM 115 that I use at our rehearsal basement with a GK 250 head, but that speaker sounds good with any head I've tried.

Collecting amps? I'm not a collector but I have a rig for gigging, one for practices, and one for home practice. No, I don't collect them. I just hate to transport them.

Let's see...I can get rid of one of the Ashdowns....

One of the Ashdowns? How many Ashdowns does one need?

Speaking of red X's, all the topics with new messages have a red X where the graphic for "new" is supposed to be. Or would I not have this issue if I used Firefox?
