And from reading what Uwe has to say, I'm pretty sure the SG-Z is the EB for me.

A couple of my old band mates were previously in the remains of The Flock, whom Kansas idolized. These guys got to go backstage, and Kansas treated them like royalty.
Used Carvins are a great value for the money.

What I can't see is buying a Carvin, Peavy, Lakland Skyline or Warwick new , then losing 50% or more walking out the door. I also like getting a bass with some mojo, so I don't have tom worry about scratching it, you can just play it
I saw that. Ax-in-Hand used to be one of the premier places to find vintage guitars and basses. Larry (RIP) who started it, was a great guy and educated me a lot about Gibson vs. Epiphone basses. I bought/sold/traded 4 basses with him in the late '70s.
