The 21st Century TBird with an ergonomic body, ultimate balance, 21 fret neck, a low B (helpful when playing Jump and other goodies), endless upper register access, a bridge pup moved slightly forward to the middle and, errm, a Kahler.

You guys continue your heathen devotion to hopelessly outdated instruments from the sixties and seventies while I take great strides in bringing the bass into the new millenium!!! Mortals!!!

That is actually tasteful shredding! 


There is only that much you can do with a IV/V shape! In fact, it is impossible to uglify it, so turning it into a mock Strat seemed a sensible option. That bass had a Kahler on it (probably aftermarket through Gibson wasn't sure whether it might have been a customer request), but it was positioned wrong (the bridge pup in its original position kept it from having the right placement) making the bass intonate flat (grand TBird tradition!) and it wasn't recessed enough either, making the action unnecessarily high.

As weird as I think this may sound, I think the EVH-style finish you have works much better on your bass than most EVH knockoff guitars. IMO, a lot of that has to do with the more parallel stripes that have a more structured layout. It's definitely an homage to SoCal 80's, but with a healthy dose of German discipline.

An 80s Gibson bass design that owes a lot to a 50s Fender body designs mated to a 50s Gibson headstock is "bringing the bass into the new millenium!!!"

The stripes have really "stratofied" the non-descript Fender larvae look these things usually have, I'm pleased. It was a well-sounding specimen by the way, the Kahler mammoth bridge added some metallic bite which mixed well with the warmth of the maho and the fuzziness of the early, meanwhile microphonic TB Plus pups. Its flat intonation kept me from playing it much though.
