The Bass Zone / what kind of bass guitar is this?
« on: September 21, 2019, 01:42:09 PM »
In this performance of Robert Palmer anno 1980

Looks like the bass player isn't really plucking the strings with his right hand but rather just touching them or just putting his fingers on 'em.
And there's a whole lot of knobs. Is it a very early synth bass?

Guitars Etc. / unbreakable guitar...
« on: April 18, 2019, 12:00:08 PM »
Swedish hi-tech tool factory Sandvik has made a lightweight 3D printed Titanium guitar.
And they asked fellow countryman Yngwie to smash it for them.

BTW: Looks like Yngwie has lost some weight hasn't he?

Just read this on facebook:

Hi to all the fans and people who knew Paul! This is Sandra, Paul's life partner speaking: With a desperate and broken heart, fully in tears and pains that feel like they will kill me I have to tell you that my most beautiful and beloved darling Paul Raymond has passed away today. The doctors we're trying to reanimate him and with success at first but then his system shot down again and there was nothing more they could do for him, he died of a heart attack.

He absolutely enjoyed the last couple of weeks touring with UFO in the UK & Ireland and he was looking forward to the rest of this year's tour.

This photo was taken last Wednesday when we checked out of our last hotel before coming back to Germany!

I will always love him and I hope he will rest in piece until I'll see him again on the other side!!!

I love you so much Paul 💔😪 Sandra

The Outpost Cafe / DeWolff in the studio
« on: February 27, 2019, 11:07:37 AM »
Young Dutch vintage gear geek Pablo van de Poel takes us on a journey through his Electrosaurus Southern Sound Studio in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Pablo is guitarist and one of lead-vocalists of DeWolff.

DeWolff has been around since 2008. I think they were 16 years old when they first appeared on Dutch tv.
Pablo sure knows his gear . And he plays a mean guitar too ;-)
What's not to love.
Oh wait, there's no bass player...

Here's a performance on national tv back when they were 16 or 17 years

Here's a pdf with all the information you'll ever need.
Although it is in German, there's lots of drawings and schematics, so it isn't too hard to understand

The Outpost Cafe / R.I.P. Ted McKenna
« on: January 19, 2019, 05:47:58 AM »
Just read on Facebook that Ted Mc Kenna has died

Quote
For everyone who loved him, Ted died this morning from a haemorrhage during elective surgery. Freak occurrence and a huge surgical team fought for 10 hours to save him. Unfortunately there was no solution to stop the bleeding and he faded away without ever knowing.

Rest In Peace Ted McKenna. And thank you for the great music you left us.
