Paul! Great to see you here.  :)

Paul has been laboring for several years compiling very hard to find information and photo's from some of the finest Rickenbacker basses around the globe for this book. It will be a must for Rickenbacker fans.

Oh, and he also owns the "Rickenbacker Forest". :)

That Sea Green 4003 looks familiar Paul.

There are new plantings in the forest since this pic was taken.

'Tis true. Here are the latest. I just sold the brilliant white V63 (refin) to a collector, but these four joined the Forest in the last year or so. First, a Turquoise 4004L Laredo where I swapped out the chrome hardware for gold. Since the body wings were made of the maple/walnut/maple sandwich anyway, this is nearly a thoroughbred 4004Cii now:

An early 4001CS Chris Squire Limited Edition that was refinished by Paul Wilczynski:

Don't know if ya'll know what a "real" Rickenbacker Tuxedo looks like, but they were a special painted all white over a 4003S with a maple fingerboard. Since the white usually yellows badly, they look pretty sickly to my eye. I prefer natural maple, so I had Larry Davis strip this one and apply a satin clear finish. I call it a "Naked Tux":

And last, a basket case 1972 4001 restored with a bright Azureglo finish by Larry Davis. The new bridge/tailpiece assembly is a concession to a full vintage restoration:

Today, I signed and delivered a book contract with Hal Leonard/BackBeat Books for my book. Now I have to finish the book and deliver it to them by December. I hope to do so by summer. The clock is ticking!

As I was kicked off the RRF by the CEO .... I have not seen much of you.

I think we spoke a few years ago.. did you ever talk to Brian Carman or Dick Burke ?

Hi Mark,

I think I tried Carmen some time ago with no response. Might not have gotten through. I did talk with Dick Burke after literally years of trying to track him down. The number you gave me was good and I left a message. He called back a week or two later. Unfortunately, the questions I had were more to do with marketing and he is more the nuts and bolts type, of course. Funny, he ends up living a few blocks away from the factory!
