I paid $185 for my black RD Artist Bass back in 1998.  That was at a Pawn Shop.  Thing weighed 14 pounds it seemed!

Back when Nirvana's video for 'Heart Shaped Box' was in rotation on MTV, the Bass Place had a good condition ebony RD for $300. I got the impression that it had been priced a little "higher" cause of the video. I should have bought it, but I was in a different place gear-wise then. Also back around 96-97, they had a red T-bird for $700 that I really thought about buying. I still kick myself for passing on that one.
