Dave... I hope this is neutral enough... if not, deal with as you would and I will fully understand...

I'm not a racialist and strongly believe in religious tolerance but there is a balance and it has just started to tip too far...  something that was threatened Stateside but happened in a drunken incident in the north of the UK, ended up on youtube, and resulted in the arrest of 6 very stupid men...

There was a major incident that involved despicable behaviour to fallen troops returning home, and there was not one single arrest...

The event above preceded the arrests and is not an isolated event...

It is only a matter of time...

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

I can't discuss what I believe is simmering over here as that would overstep the bounds...

I know the limits... ;)

It's not (suppressed shudder....) LIGHT beer, is it?

The horror, the horror......

Actually, Kenny, there have been some incredibly regrettable incidents here in the states relating to the way families of soldiers killed overseas have been treated.  Rather than describe it, I'll just provide a link.  The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case resulting from this behavior during their upcoming term.

The link: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/10/01/101475/churchs-military-funeral-protests.html

This is perhaps one of the most direct collisions between US First Amendment rights to speech and behavior that many consider despicable that I have ever seen.

Having noted the situation, I don't think it appropriate to pursue it in this forum.

Re ANY first amendment question, my take is "Sticks and stones may break my bones, etc."  There's a reason it's Amendment No.1.  On the other hand regarding No.2, which could actually result in physical injury depending on its interpretation, I'm ambivalent.

Going to be an interesting Supreme Court Season this year.
