The Big Euro trash thread
« on: May 06, 2009, 03:40:27 PM »
If you, like me, were a child growing up in the eighties, it was impossible to escape the ENORMOUS amount of Euro trash in the hit parades, kinda what hip-hop is now.

So I figured it to be fun to have a thread with that shitty music, so let's open up the purgatory and delve in...

Ryan Paris - "Dolce Vita"
The Guy can't sing, not a note here is in tune but all the same it brings me personally right back to being seven and playing football with my buddies.

Righeira - "No Tengo Dinero"
I remember watching chart shows on TV and I was blown away by how cool the visuals of this music video were and how modern that song sounded. But when I see it now I can only cringe at how dated the visuals are and how dated the song itself sounds.

Sandra - "Maria Magdalena"
Whenever there was a playback show in our school this was a firm favorite with the girls to perform. I remember seeing tennis rackets with cardboard cut out keyboard keys emulating the Keytar used in this clip.

But to close my opening post off with something decent: in the late eighties Acid suddenly exploded, taking Euro trash by the throat and violently shaking it. The songs that came from that scene were a lot hipper. And none more so than on this track...

You seriously need more in your life Blazer.

I spent most of my adult life trying to forget this kind of crap. I hope the DX7 is never ressurected.

I never heard of any of these people or bands. Maybe they were denied entry.

I really like the Sandra stuff, I think she's great. Don't get me wrong, I've got a soft spot on 80s disco-pop-whatever.
Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it.

I don't think that one counts since it's not from the mid eighties and the overall sound also differs from real Euro trash.

THIS one however does count.

Sandra Kim - J'aime la vie
With Belgium won the 1986 Eurovision song contest, but it wasn't without controversy because she lied about her age, according to the official rules the contestants should be at least 16 when entering. She was 13, making her the youngest ever winner of the Eurovision song festival.

As for how she's doing now, she still performs and has matured quite nicely I might add...

Guess it's not European nor trashy enough then...

Now I remember why I stopped listening to the radio during the 80's, :bored: music was the absolute pits back then. I've never heard any of it either but then again they all sound the same, I wonder if they just passed around the same trashy sounding synthesizer?

I own plenty of good 80s music. Everything from indie rock to country.
