I remember my very sensible mom's comment upon seeing the album cover, "Oh they're so ugly! especially him!" (pointing at Dave Hill)  At that point in time I was constantly fighting a battle with her to just let me have long hair like my rock star idols, the "Slayed" album cover didn't help my cause much  :'(  Funny thing was they didn't find out about my girly side until about 10years ago......Too late by then!  ;D

I think Chris P has that up on his myspace "Gibson Birds" profile, I really think JE is under appreciated by folks outside the bass playing community. His right hand technique is incredible! I'm an arthritic old man by comparison.

I had "Slayed" by the time I saw them on "In Concert"  '74, a buddy in high school put me onto them, I just couldn't play that record enough......Drove my parents nuts with it! every afternoon I'd get home from school and put that on my cheesy record player. My first bass was a Japanese EB copy, I wanted because it was like Jim Lea's Gibson, lets just say I *tried* to play like him  :-[. I still own that copy of "Slayed" , it damn near turned it white its been played so much. They're just so cool.........Scott I'll never get tired of seeing pics of that bass, positively incredible!

 That thing?

I actually don't own it anymore, not peizio. It had a large Humbucker mounted too close to the bridge, the microswitch switched between front and back coils. For my taste it just didn't have enough low end, never could make it have the sub to shake the floor........So its gone now. More than likely it was stock Gibson.

Thanks John,

That's a great website. I'll likely refine my idea slightly and go to them.

"Errrm, you'll be wearing just the belt you mean?"

You wish!...........Really, its far too cold in Holland for that kind of thing.
We could wait for spring so I could wear this.............tho it's tough keeping one's girlish figure over the winter.

He's being such a bi**h, adding me to his myspace and such.....you know, stringing me along, then not a word from him when it comes time for me to fly to Europe and not have an international incident 'cause of my chrome bullit belt, which is an essential part of my wedding ensemble.
What's a girl to do?!  :D

Pickup cover? Chrome pickguard?

Bridge cover and pickup/handrest, both N.O.S. parts. The chrome just gets me hot!

A chrome guard would be cool.

Yeah, and that's what I'm thinking too........maybe with a 'Bird etched into it. probably $200.00 worth of pickguard when its done. I should have my head examined.

Here's the 'Birdie in question with some of its parts re-attached. Something in black may be the answer but I'm not ruling out anything yet.
