SG Zoot Suit (http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-USA/SG-Zoot-Suit.aspx) :o :o :o
And be sure to read about the neck and body construction!
-
A true case of Gibson following Epiphone in instrument design. Plywood SG/EB's seem to be becoming the norm ???
-
that is the worst thing i've ever seen. what the hell are they smokin' down in Nashville?

They must be smoking "multiple birch wood laminate pieces (each one approximately .075” thick)"...
-
Plywood is stillplywood even when you make it out of Birch and stain it different colours.
-
I like how $2000 instruments come with gigbags now.
-
I think you guys are smoking something. That's probably their coolest looking new design they've released since the GOtM program started.

Pass the duchie Matt ;D

aahhhhm. memememe.........i see a rainbow guitar and i want to paint it black,no colors any more paint that ugly ass geetard black.
-
This is the negitive thread on them ?
I really like them. Yeah its very 60's and artsey, but thats the intention. Peter Max
-
Not necessarily negative, my link up top was just an alert that there was already a thread down here.
But now that you mention it, if I built a guitar out of laminated used popsicle sticks stained with their artifical coloring, how much could i sell it for? ;D
-
Eh... I think it's actually done well for what it is, but definitely NOT my cup of tea. I like the clear knobs. :-\
-
At least Gibson dyed the wood after the trees were cut down!
-
Reminds me of Clapton's SG from Cream.
Does Alembic sell popsicle sticks in their cheap laminates?
-
I think it's wonderful! I've been seeing the colored laminates on custom knives for years - why not on a guitar or bass?
I'm hoping bass versions scome out soon.
-
EC sold the SG to TR...
-
Who now keeps it locked away, and had a replica made sometime ago.
I saw where Todd is coming to Chicago to perform 'A Wizard & True Star" .
-
Last time I saw Todd was supporting Led Zep at Knebworth oh so many years ago...
I like the look of this newbie, which will probably mean most of the "bretheren" will be talking to the "Big Man" on the "great white telephone"... ;D
-
I think Todd is a great un credited guitarist. He certianly has his own un mistakeable tone.
He is performing two shows here next week. Would love to go.

"A Wizard, A True Star" was Todd’s follow up to his most commercially successful album, “Something /Anything?” which included popular hits like “I Saw The Light” and “Hello It’s Me”. Instead of going with a similar sound, Todd Rundgren went in a completely different direction with his electrical psychedelic album "A Wizard, A True Star".
Although the album wasn’t a big hit with critics and didn’t reach near the sales as Todd’s previous album, it’s the clear cut favorite of Todd’s most avid fans and is considered a very influential album to thousands of musicians. Todd’s manager, Eric Gardner of Panacea Entertainment, said, “It was Todd’s 180 degree turn after 'Something/Anything?' much to the dismay of the record company and much to the dismay of radio. Back then they were hoping for a follow up of 'Something/Anything?' something in the same vein. 'A Wizard, A True Star' is actually a record that’s near and dear to Todd’s heart because it was so contrary”.
"A Wizard, A True Star" was listed in the 2006 musical reference book, “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die”. In 2003, British music critic Barney Hoskyns wrote in MOJO magazine, "Rundgren’s 'A Wizard, A True Star' is simply the greatest album ever made”.

Todd IS a TRUE STAR...
That is a stunning album...
Where would Mr Loaf be without his production (thinking of his earlier work, JS gets a look in too), and the 2 LPs he did with GFR... Love the solo on "Carry Me Through"...
He still lives out on the edge... long may he do so... hope you get to go, John...
-
Tickets are $70 - $180, not going, can't afford it. We are living on Walmart wages right now, going through savings.
There is light at the end of the tunnel though.
-
Is that a freight train coming my way...?
Presently dodging stuff, too, John...

Its a Les Paul................ Just let it be a Les Paul fer dogs sake!
-
... with "teeth" inlays...
I suppose the selector surround could be trying to look like an eye...
I must say, that is a great way to make use of recycled pine floor-boards, though...

Uwe posted this in a bass discussion a couple of weeks ago, because he wondered if those are bass pickups. http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=3066.0

Ah yes, I thought I'd seen it before, couldn't remember where.
Dave, have you seen the pics of the back of the neck? It looks like a black version of our MM's. No grain filler.

I hadn't noticed before. I've never been big on filling the grain in woodworking, but considering that Gibson has done it all these years, it's surprising to see it on some of their expensive models.
-
Laminates used to scare me off a few years back but nowdays they are infinately better. Still, I have to ask myself....WHY? ???
If you can do it with a single piece of wood, why not just do it.
