Title: McCartney's Ric in an ITV documentary
Post by: ilan on November 01, 2010, 10:01:33 PM
A new British documentary on the album Band On A Run. During the long interview, the Ric is right behind Sir Paul.

Has that lp stood the test of time?  I guess by the documentary, but I wouldn't have said so.  It was a big seller, and Jet was a good single, but the rest of it I have managed to live without fine.  Juniors Farm was a nice way to get out of that rut, and I often wonder if it was part of the same sessions as it wasn't on the lp.  I listened to Wildlife recently, and I enjoyed its quirkyness.  But I find those two and Red Rose Speedway to be of a period of McCartney that just meanders too much.

Those three and the Hofner are fun, but I want to see the lefty Jazz.

In the McCartney concert I went to 2 years ago, the part I enjoyed the most was when he did Wings songs. I was a teenager when Band On A Run was released, so it reminds me of happy days, and I loved it at the time.

but I want to see the lefty Jazz.

I wonder if he still plays the Ric off stage, or for recordings.

I'm going to see him for the first (and probably only) time on the 21st and 22nd, for the Up And Coming Tour. And I saw the setlist he's been doing and for the non-Beatles stuff the Wings songs are what I'm more excited about, specially Band On The Run. Not too keen his latest solo work though.

His guitar tech has told me that he does.
