A friend of mine's son did a Flying V uke as a shop project about a year ago.

No doubt better sounding than the "V"-Bass.

The V Bass could just be the worst sounding bass of all time. I couldn't get rid of mine fast enough...

I bet this sounded pretty good.

Wonder what became of it?

I always wondered about that bass. If i see the headstock it could have started as a Bird?

Not a 'Bird - the headstock has more of a "wave" to it. Whatever it is, it's huge!
There used to be an ad for subscriptions in GP, back in the 70s with a classical guitarist and a rock guy handing each other GPs as Christmas gifts. The salty rock dude was wearing a V-Bass with that headstock, but it had a brown finish and IIRC, the rubber grip strip on the lower wing. Couldn't see the pickups though...

The headstock looks a little like some of the Guild headstocks that were out there about the time of the Pilot.

That uke is great. My son will love it! He's all about Spongebob. I'm off to find it now...

There's a range of SpongeBob guitars and ukes. I found them on the site of a British distributor who also does Danelectro and Vintahe. Something like JHS.co.uk

Looks like the line is distributed in the UK by JHS but it doesn't seem to be available in the US, at least online.

You could order from a UK store, just plan on paying as much for shipping as you will for the uke outfit.

Yeah, I was wondering why all the shops that turned up in my search were in the UK... I may order the V anyway. I'll just wait a few months and let it be a Christmas present though. The dollar looks to be improving a bit, so I may save a few bucks if I wait.
