Well, this not really called but still happening actor's strike is causing me more financial havoc then I ever hoped to have. Even though I'm still working at the moment, I'm not too sure how much longer I will be, so I need to free up some cash.

Before I go to eBay I thought I'd offer some stuff up here. Here's what I have up so far:





1964 Epiphone Embassy. Headstock repaired looong before I got it. All stock besides that. $2200 == deal pending ==

2001/2 Gibson Blackbird. Small chip on the headstock. Perfect for making a red baron bird or any other refinish options. $1300


1976 Thunderbird. Natural.  == This one is sold ==




77 ish Greco 4001S clone (neck thru) $650

The three point really does make up for it as long as the twist is even and not too crazy. The bird I sold Mark looks a little weird if you sight it down the neck from the headstock, but when it's hanging from a strap and being played it's not something that you even think of. It may have affected it's value from a collectors POV, but as a player who cares? I was glad my bass went to a home where it'd be loved and played. And Mark, you're welcome!

BTW: Nothing that much heralded new bass player played on those first three songs made me listen up, perhaps I even miss Jason Newsted's pick attack sound a little in the mix.

Robert Trujillo's massive talent is somewhat wasted in Metallica. Pick up some Infectious Grooves to hear just what a monster bassist he really is. I never had the desire or, to be honest, the patience to play that way, but I'm a huge fan of that style when it's done that well. Then again, if he's playing a part that serves the song it shows he really is a bass player and doesn't need to prove himself to anyone.

I haven't heard the Guitar Hero mixes, but I have read some analysis of the mastering and even the guy that mastered the album has kind of disowned it (blaming it on the loudness wars). I've heard the album a few times and I hear Master of Puppets and In Justice pretty strongly, which is an improvement to my ears. Obvious clipping on an album from a band of this stature is pretty embarrassing though.

Now that I'm home I was able to read through yours more carefully and I see that my own response might seem like I was directly contradicting yours. That was not my intent.

And as far as Russel Brand goes Uwe, I think it came across more as someone from 'outside the family' coming in and slinging mud that wasn't his to sling, so to speak. As much as we fight amongst ourselves, I think we, as Americans, still feel that unity when we're backed against a wall. Even a non funny rhetorical one.

I followed a link to an MTV website where there were 4000+ comments on the debacle. I was amazed at the vitriol being heaped on Brand and MTV in general. I wouldn't have thought of MTV viewers as caring all that much about political or moral issues, but Brand really struck a nerve. I guess he won't be back next year.  :mrgreen:
