That's terrible. If they know the time of theft within an hour, sounds like it may have been under guard. Somebody may have been watching, waiting for an opportunity.
-
Terrible >:(
-
Rental trucks get stolen out of hotel parking lots constantly here in Houston. For the life of me I can't figure out why bands don't take the extra ten minutes ot disable the truck - pull the coil wire, disconnect battey - something! If it takes the thugs a few more minutes to get away they may go somehwere else.
-
That REALLY sucks! Reminded me of when Sonic Youth had their equipment stolen. I think they eventually tracked much of it down several years later - hopefully the Stooges will find theirs sooner rather than later.
I posted this over at the Alembic forum just in case.
-
wow that sucks.poor Mike i know he must love that EB3.the same thing happened to Dinosaur jr. here in NY. a bunch of 50's fenders and Lou Barlow's red Rick 4001.i wonder if they ever got their shit back?when my band toured, one person always slept in the van.
-
let's all keep our eyes open at eBay and so.
-
Watt's EB will be impossible to move - it's too well known and iconic. Chances are that the 'scrotes that stole the stuff had no idea what they stealing - they were just hitting a rental truck in hotel parking lot >:( Most likely just douchebag crackheads looking for an easy score >:(
-
That's awful. I know it's just stuff, but instruments are are so hard to replace- since they all kinda have their own unique traits. I hope their gear turns up again out there.
I also thought about Dino Jr and Sonic Youth when I read this. It's a shame that the good bands who aren't on mega-rock-star budgets are easy targets for theft.
-
That blows. I'll keep my eyes open you never know where this stuff will surface. I always take my basses in to the hotel room no matter what, they can have my amps if they feel like carrying them.
-
If it's a rental truck it may have a GPS monitor on it. Have they looked into that possibility? I hope they get their stuff back...
-
Watt told me he met a Canadian promoter and he said this is happening a lot in Montreal/Canada. He said all kinds of trucks loaded with stuff are disappearing. They believe it is the Russian mob, who steal the trucks, then ship the contents to Russia in containers within 48 hours, without a trace of anything ever being found or able to trace. They said the Russian mafia is growing in the city.
It does make sense as sooner or later the truck should be found. These trucks are just vanishing.
