Pete Townshend's Studio, JAE content

On CBS Sunday Morning flogging his memoir, "Who I Am."  Nice to see his ExplorerBird in a place of honor.

I knew Pete had one, didn't know it was white. Nice to see it on the wall in Pete's studio.

He's been doing a fair bit of promo on BBC radio this week; got a pit precious when asked about his police warning but should have known it would come up in conversation. Also seemed to have a memory lapse about the first time he smashed a guitar, now it seems he did it as a reactionary response, I'd read in several places that it was an accident in a low-ceiling venue.
There was also a fair bit of "Oh you'll have to buy the book about that one".

Nice, thanks! He mentioned giving Pete a white one, I think in his Bass Culture book.

I visited the Sydney Hard Rock Cafe for the first time last weekend, and one of JAE's green Peter Cook Explorerbirds is in a glass case there

I thought they kept that one in the vault - maybe they have two - I believe the one he used in the Who Are You vid is not on display anywhere but there vault...?

I know they will not offer a copy of a detailed pic of them - asked that one and got a polite no for an answer...

Too bad Pete is dumb as a box of rocks. Here he is again, running off at the mouth about how Apple should put some of its profits back into the music industry. He just can't seem to understand that iTunes is just another retailer. Not a record label.

Stating an opinion formed from almost 50 years of experience and success in an industry doesn't make you "as dumb as a box of rocks".

I'm also pretty sure Townshend understands the difference between a record company and Apple.

I still remember an interview with Daltrey, where he basically said that Townshend has a known disgust for the press and is always playing them.

I made it to 1:42, and got a chuckle when he mentioned "Holiday Inn Rolling Meadows" as where he wrote the lyrics for "Won't Get Fooled Again".  I know right where that is.

I don't think he does. It's not the first time he's come up with this. With the record industry robbing artists blind for years, he looks to a retailer which has done more for artists than the labels have done in their combined history, to plow some of its profits back into an industry that fought its existence tooth and nail. IMHO that's just plain stupid. The labels are responsible for the state of the industry; take them on if you want change.

I respect him as an artist. That doesn't make him smart. His 2003 arrest should have put that to rest.

True, not usually with a strap hanging on it.
It'd be nice if this was his go to bass for tracking.

Wait a minnit! Because intelligent people aren't child molesters or because intelligent people who are child molesters don't get caught watching kiddie porn? There is a difference.

Like all people on earth except me of course, Pete sometimes doesn't know what he is talking about. That said, he is a deep and thoughtful  man.

And iTunes killed the CD cover and booklet. For that alone they deserve to fry in hell. Music without a cover and a booklet is like having sex with yourself. Plus they aided and abetted the commercial success of a crap sound quality. Double-fry in hell then.
