Funny you should mention it.  I put it on my watch list a half hour ago.

The basic white/black combo always works.  It's all about accessorizing...

It's not quite the Overend Watts look ( I never knew that he gave Martin Turner his first Bird), but it will do in a pinch.  My first T-Bird was a '66 Thunderbird II.  Didn't quite get it then.  Wish I'd kept it now.  Then again, selling/trading and buying my basses over the years always led to new horizons.  In the end, I got a '63 Epiphone Embassy that was once part of Tom Petersson's collection.  The bass of God, I always called it.  Fur85 will attest to why I kept that bass for over 20 years.

p.s. - Mark, if you ever want to sell it, let me know.  I'd love to have it back.   ;)

As far as I know all Greco Thunderbirds are full mahogany.

I think that the black/white combo looks killer on Thunderbirds.

I'll never understand that. Sure, somebody else may have paid his dues with it, but that's not transferable to you.

Oh well, at least it's better than a pre-reliced guitar, which just pretends that somebody else used it.

I'm with you on that Dave. The whole relic thing gives me the shits to be honest. Its like faking or pretending. Why not just get the real thing and play it.

This ones a classic example of NFI

Like doing it with somebody's ex-girlfriend..........feels funny at first, but you get over it.  :)

I'd have to say that I absolutely despise the whole idea of relic'd guitars - that s**t's for posers! IMO.

Now that does look like crap, but a honest worn by play bass is a good thing.

I agree, Wear is wear ya just accept it.

Relic-ing is kinda like a lame wannabe thing in my books.

Ditto.  If you can't relic a bass by playing it, I don't get doing artificially.  But, each to his own they say.

There are a LOT of people that have hit that listing.  Makes me think there's going to be some last minute sniping.  In looking it over, I could see going chrome.  I used to have a chrome bridge around here somewhere.  What did I do with it....    :-\

About relics...

A part of me thinks it's stupid to relic a brand new expensive Fender CS or Gibson guitar and it's even more stupid people buy them

But... I was in a shop the other day and I saw some nice relic'ed Jazzmasters and a Sandberg Bass. And I just love it. I had no eyes for the other instruments!

Just about 4 hours left.  I've still got the top bid.  LOTS of views on it.  The interesting thing so far is that everyone is bidding low.  Each new bid is only $5 over the last high bid.  Nobody seems to be jumping on this yet.  The last 5 minutes should be interesting.

Nope.  The winning bid came in about an hour before it ended.  The winner got it for $5 more than my high bid.  I don't know if I would have gotten it for another $20 jump, but I set the limit that I was willing to go, and stayed with it.  There will be others.

The thing with Ebay is that the bids increment at the set level, and not with the actual bid.  For all I know, the winner outbid me by $50.  I just didn't want to go over my pre-set limit.  The $130 shipping was a definite factor.

Right, you never know how much higher the winner was set to go if necessary.

Maybe we'll have to watch and see if he's flipping them.  Still, recovering the shipping cost would put that up pretty high.
