Babicz FCH...
« on: January 30, 2016, 05:48:50 AM »
I've gone ahead and ditched the Supertones and installed Babicz 3-Points on two of my Thunderbirds.  UK price is £120, so c.$171.

While I have nothing bad to say about the Hipshots, I've gotta say that I like [edit] the Babicz bridges [/edit] a lot...the basses do sound phatter; there's just more of everything tonally if that makes sense.  Also, they're certainly kinder to your right palm if you mute or play close to the bridge.

The Babicz is certainly a better fit for the Thunderbird. The Hipshot looks clumsy on a Thunderbird with the overhang to the left and right of the raised centerpiece.

In fact, I think a Hipshot looks clumsy on any bass... :-X

Gotta a picture?

Here you go.

IMHO Babicz is definitely much nicer than the Gibson 3-point and easy to adjust. Never had a Hipshot so I can't compare.

As I mentioned in another thread, still going to sell the bass.

These are how they look on mine...most of you will recognise the blackie is a gothic.  I use the Gothic at gigs and still get quizzed by other bass player whether it's an Epiphone with a Gibson truss-rod cover.  Groan.

IMHO they definitely look better on a T-bird than the Hipshot.

They do look less intrusive than the Hipshot. One day I should get one to try them out against each other.
