It's missing the sliding mute and bracket. The early 4000 had a thicker body, 1 5/8" (41mm) with no contours on the edges. Current models are 1 ΒΌ" (31mm). The old ones weigh more, too, and were neck heavy.

Geddy has a few early ones, and describes them all as incredibly heavy. And I suppose he has enough Rick experience to compare them :)

Nice RM1999 on Reverb for lots of money that I think might be a new listing?

Treble cap is missing and the Fireglo is a bit unusual as it looks like they didn't burst the edges of the body. I'm thinking refin?

His Ric mileage includes 18lbs 4080's so weight is not an issue...

I think so too. The pickup and jack plate show their age but the finish looks almost new. 60's fireglo's are usually more gradual and orangey.

Treble cap is there (it's mostly hidden under one of the tone caps), but did these come stock with both volume controls closest to the selector switch, with the tone controls closest to the jack plate?  This one is certainly arranged that way.

1986 S5 MG/BT. $3,490 BIN

Looks similar to my son's 4-string 1986 S MG/BT, which is one of the best sounding Rics I have had the pleasure to play.

My V63 came that way.

Interesting; I have not come across that AFAIK.  I've seen them like in photo A; yours is like that in photo B?

Weird, never seen that myself. I had a '93 V63 for a short while, and it had the normal control layout.

That ruby looks nice with black trim. Nice finish on the 2030 too.

It's a little Gibson-ish, in a good way. I'd swap the guard for a 5-ply B/W/B/W/B for more Gibson vibe.
