The Outpost Cafe / Shake Down Umeå Live
« on: June 23, 2017, 02:21:35 AM »
Last night our band, Shake Down, had a gig at a local pub. Outdoors, and by the Umeå river. This is what it sounded like. The bass i a Gibson Ripper where I changed the pickup and controls to a black T-bird pup. I like the sound. The bass goes through a Fender Dual Showman from around -75. The cabinet is as old as the amp. Hope someone enjoys this: https://www.facebook.com/feriz.zecic/posts/10154794021457183?comment_id=10154794210692183&notif_t=mentions_comment&notif_id=1498209211341714

The great bass player John Wetton left earth today, 31 of January, according to Wikiedia. In my opinion he was among the greatest of later years bass players.

Gibson Basses / T-bird neck pickup cover
« on: August 04, 2016, 08:40:43 AM »
This could be it for someone who wants the neck pickup cover for a 60's  T-bird. The price was right, but the guy wanted $44 for shipping to Sweden, which I consider a bit to much. Seems like the guy don't know what the piece is. http://www.ebay.com/itm/302025690355?euid=8b063549378243de89000deb1746ea19&bu=43209084313&cp=1&exe=11473&ext=27979&es=0&nqc=EkgAAAAAAAACIAAACAAAAAEAAQAEAAAAAAAACAQEAAAAAAAAAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAABAAAEAAAAAAEIAAzgIAEAACAAgAAAAAIAAIAAAAAAAAggAAAAAAARAABAAIAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAg*&nqt=EkgAAAIUAAACICAACQAAQAMIAQAEAAAAAAAACAQEAAAAQAAAEAAiAAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAABAAAEACAAAAEIAAzgIAEAACAAgAAAAAIAAIAAAAAAAAggAAAAABARgABAAIAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAg*&ec=1&sojTags=es=es,nqc=nqc,nqt=nqt,ec=ec,exe=exe,ext=ext,bu=bu

The Outpost Cafe / Jukon Speaks
« on: December 11, 2014, 08:51:28 AM »
Just wanted you to know that we just released a new record with my band, Jukon Speakers, from Umea, Sweden. I'm using a Gibson Ripper from -74, which I bought with no hardware, except the bridge. In the Ripper I slipped a modern Gibson Thunderbird pup. The strings are, as always, Rotosound. This is it:
Hope someone likes it!

Bass Amps & Effects / Ampeg BSE 115 speaker
« on: June 16, 2014, 07:03:03 AM »
Anyone here got a clue concerning what company makes (made?) the speakers to the Ampeg BSE 115? And any opinion about the BSE in question? Or any speaker suggestion for the BSE, outside of the original?

Wouldn't be about time that someone with the right connections started making these? Cause this price is as close as one can get to ridiculousness. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960s-Gibson-Thunderbird-Cover-Plates-Vintage-TBird-/271358052804

Gibson Basses / The hymn of the bass players
« on: August 26, 2013, 08:15:55 AM »
Guess you've all seen this piece on the Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-BASS-PLAYER-1972-Gibson-Guitar-Foldout-Ad-with-pyschedelic-cover-/251325948913?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a8431a3f1
Well, wouldn't it be possible to let that ad start a new life, by getting a child with Tommy Roe? We have the ground pattern ready, just waiting for take-off:
Now, who's to write the new lyrics? Any volunteers there?

Gibson Basses / Gibson neck pickup cover. Again!
« on: April 16, 2013, 01:23:35 PM »
So today I talked to someone, working at a metal workshop, if he could make me some neck pickup covers like the one I showed him. Which is a chrome cover from a Thunderbird. Just like this: http://oliviasvintageguitars.com/bass/guitars/1956/
Yes, he could, the guy said. But they would be in stainless steel. The price would be, like $150 for four covers. Now, what are you guys ideas concerning the material? Or is there anyone out there who's got any ideas where to get new covers?

Found this on Jules site. What do you guys think, aside from the obvious with colour, pickup, tuners and finger rest? http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/bass/vault/gibson-eb-0-sunburst-1959-61/

Gibson Basses / Brand new bass!
« on: April 01, 2013, 01:45:46 AM »
Gibson is about to release a  brand new bass. It'll be a Thunderbird that's completely reversed, as it's got strings and pickups on both side of the body/neck! The big thing about it is, therfore, that in one moment one can play a reversed model, and the next it will be a non-reversed! The only thing about the bass, that can be seen as negative, is the name. It won't be called Thunderbird! Instead, as a tribute to the day of the news of the new bass release, it will be called Lirpa I. Which also is reversed!
