Difference between new and old serie custom shop Jazz pickups & Japanese pickups

I've found a set of Fender Custom shop J pickups. The seller say it's the old version from the '90, without logo, with rounded pole pieces and with a different color of brass plates. does any of you guys know anything about this?

I'm also looking at a couple of J pickups from an '85 Japanese Fender bass, do you know how to recognize them?

I can't help you on the Japanese pickups, but my set of Custom Shop Jazz pickups from 2002 which came direct from Fender as a spiff have edged polepieces, no logo and copper plates.
