Replacement Keys on '55CS Precision
« on: November 28, 2014, 12:52:31 PM »
I would like to replace the tuning keys on my '55 CS Precision. Main reason being they are too heavy. I heard there (perhaps here some time ago) that there was a company ( maybe Japanese ) that made a lightweight replacement key that had an exact fit and look of the elongated keys used on those bases. I don 't believe they were Gotoh.

Gotoh Resolite GB640 aluminum, nickel plated.

They are the closest in appearance to original reverse Klusons, the gear ratio is different.

If you want a set, I'll trade you a brand new packaged set for your CS ones if they are the like the original ratio Klusons.
Or $125 which is $50 off the $175 list (I'm an Allparts dealer).

Here's a set on my 61 Jazz clone:

Thanks for that. I realize after posting this and seeing your suggestion that I actually have a set of these keys from Gotoh, on a project that I started a while ago. I'll have to make sure the ones I have are the pre CBS version where I won' t have any issues with the hole size. Will keep posted.
