Why? :o  I'm no Rick purist but I can't imagine what improvement anyone would be hoping for with those pickups in a Rick. Temporary insanity?

When your Ric sounds thin and you don't know about that stupid treble-bleed cap, and you happen to have a couple of Gibson pickups in your spare parts drawer, or your local luthier does, then I can see why you would give it a try. People have installed Gibson Sidewinders in Rics for the same reason - they thought it was the pickup. Who would have thought that RIC installed a bass-cut capacitor in a bass guitar? That's insane.

I replaced the neck pickup with a Model 1 and it sounded fantastic.

I used an aftermarket pick-guard so it was completely reversible.

I used to ride the school bus dreaming of doing that exact mod to my white 4001. Never happened...

I put one in the PC back in the 70's but it was rather microphonic... no idea what became of it once junked...
