Nice Red Dot Neck Ric 8 String on Albany Craigslist

This looks really nice. $1700 seems like a great price. The seller is not willing to ship.

Great price, assuming no major issues.

Heck, I'd be half tempted to buy that one and sell mine - just because the BT looks cool on it, and because the string courses have already been reversed ;D

Kind of a moot point, though, since he won't ship.

That's a "Red" 4003S/8 with black trim. Red came standard with black trim (and binding on the 4003). You had to pay extra to get it with white and chrome trim - an option called "reverse trim."

What Paul said, and I will add that all 8-stringers were dot-neck un-bound S models.

And that it's one mod (red enameled fretboard) away from becoming an ultra-rare Redneck S/8 (although SPC's had maple boards under the paint):

Well, except for the earlier 4008, which technically wasn't an S, it was more of a hybrid - although the body didn't have binding, it had binding on the neck and Stereo Rick-O-Sound outputs. Oh, and don't forget the 8-string 4005 - I think it was called the 4005/8? But probably the vast majority of Rick 8-strings were the 4003S/8 model.

Great price! Not one of my favorite colors, but that's just me.

I'm not a red bass guy either. But this one works for me with the black trim and RW dot neck.
