Tell me again, why don't they show pictures of the headstock?

Second - it is entirely possible for a Chinese factory to make a dead on copy of a V63 and ship to your door for $315.

Color me doubtful. Helen Keller might not be able to tell the difference but I don't think anyone familiar with Ricks would be fooled by any cheap copy from China or wherever. Rickenbacker's finishing process takes a certain skill level and many hours; any Asian copy you get for $315 will have a quick polyester spray which will be durable but won't be the same.

Some things can easily be copied exactly. Others require a knowledge or skill that require a knowledge of what goes into a good guitar, not just mindless copying.

It's here.  :)

Decently set up straight from the box, there are some minor flaws that you only notice when you look real close. Plays well, sounds good, looks good, I am happy with my faker.

Nice! And very special. Body wings are ash, I presume? If it's the same depth as a maple-bodied Ric, this one must be light.

I don't know what kind of wood it is. It looks like alder to me but has a more pronounced grain. Definitely not light, the bass weighs 10.6 pounds.

Nice! For what it is it looks like a good score.

The wood could be sen. Sometimes called sen ash, but it isn't an ash species.

Glad it's working out for you. If it's any consolation, your bass is still lighter than my 78' Precision.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

The body wings could use a darker tint to match a real 4004LK. Just a thought.

You know what? I doesn't look horrible. If at that price it sounds alright, then everything is fine. It's even a real neck-thru, I'd have never thought.

They took it to the next level. Now with skulls carved into the top and some hardware variation:

I'm still considering ordering the one with my fake MMT artwork, especially as my 4001S has a new paintjob.
