I have ordered one from DHgate, it should arrive in three weeks time. A real 4004LK is far too expensive for me to consider and I like the look of them so a copy will do just fine. I don't expect much of it; at the very least it will be nice to hang on the wall. ;)

You know if there's a way  to go after them, RIC will do it.

You may be wondering how such an amazing product could be so cheap, It is possible because it has been manufactured in china, where labour is cheap. Cheap labour does not mean that has been compromised; all parts are of the highest and have been imported from overseas.

I wonder where they import the parts from.

The guy that I ordered the bass from told me that the pickups are Korean and the tuners are Japanese. He said nothing about the bridge so I assume that is Chinese.

RIC is aware of these copies but I think they know that going after Chinese companies in China is a waste of money. It is a jungle out there, Chinese companies will copy anything and put any name you want on it. There is a company with an office in the USA that sells these basses, John Hall replied a month ago in a thread on the Rickresource forum about that. They still have the basses complete with a Rickenbacker logo on the truss rod cover on their site.

If I were you, I'd send it back, the pickups position seem to be all wrong, you'll never get a 4004 sound out of it! :P

Yabbut, yabbut...  I wanted a cuckoo clock when I was a little boy. I can't pass on this opportunity to combine a childhood trauma with a grown-up hobby. ;)

It looks like a real v63 JG with a Hipshot bridge/tailpiece.

I bet what you get from aliexpress for $315 will be slightly different.

Yeah, "slightly."

Be skeptical of low-priced "Rickenbackers" coming out of China. What you get is not what you see. This one is clearly a real V63 in the photos, but that's likely not the one you'll get for that money.

There are really two major issues with this one. First - I agree totally that the odds of pulling something that looks like that v63 out of a box from China are pretty slim.  Second - it is entirely possible for a Chinese factory to make a dead on copy of a V63 and ship to your door for $315.
