I've always had a soft spot for these...I just don't care how ugly they are I feel like I need one  ;D

Those are some of the most egregiously out of focus shots I've ever seen in an auction for a $1500+ bass.

Glaucoma vision.

I've always found that pickup configuration interesting, but am not a fan of the finish.

Isn't he asking more than this was new?

These looked too much like a junior high woodworking project gone bad to me.

Maybe the seller thinks the blurry shots will make the wart covered top appear flamed  ;D

when these first came out, I thought they were rather ugly but now I think they're pretty cool. not sure what made me change my opinion, but they look bad ass.  no funds for basses right now otherwise I'd be trying to rationalize buying it.

Not exactly my style (I like shiny things), but still pretty cool, and I really like the pickup layout. Other than the knobs, I think it's well put together aesthetically.

Love the idea and pickup placement; hate the middle-school shop class woodworking and finish.

Well if you missed out on the first one, here is an even more expensive one with better pictures:

I actually like these but not for these prices.

Reading the second listing - do these have the "over-sized" LP body?

I don't think so, although I've never seen one in person.

The specs say  nothing about a larger body, and the one user who commented there said he returned his oversize LP Bass because it was too large and got this one.

AFAIK, the current "oversized" LP basses are the first ones Gibson has made using anything other than standard LP guitar bodies since the Les Paul Signature and Recording models.
