Have you played it? The handful of 2000 series I've played had necks that were too wide feeling for me, not that I ever measured one. I know you're not a fan of larger necks.

They may be workhorses but the tone is not what most people would consider Rick tone.

Sounds like good info.  The nut is 1.5", so at least the width seems OK.  Fortunately, I had to drive to a consulting job tonight and after 3 hours of snow and sleet, I've sobered up.  I'm gonna resist this urge.  Thanks guys.  If it were really cheap, I'd grab it just because.

Oh my, I didn't see that one.  It's much nicer than the Hamburg.  Very tempting………..I'm a sucker for black vintage basses with binding.  Well, almost vintage.

 Glad you talked yourself out of it. I view them as a curiosity not much more but if the collector in you has to have one then by all means get one. The ones I have played left me flat. I didn't like the feel, sound or looks of the thing. I'd take a nice EB3 anyday. For that kind of cash I'd just go out and buy a new 4003.

IIRC the nut width was 1 3/4". Wide with medium thickness front to back.

Nope, not THAT tempted!  I appreciate all of the input and advice!  I have other plans for my spare change, but I do like the looks of the bound models.  Thanks for the help guys.

But I agree - those 2000 and 3000 series basses are a little over-priced because they say Rickenbacker on the headstock. Just my opinion. I know there are people that really like them.

I have a 2030GF with a great feeling neck: 1 5/8" nut, 2 3/8" spacing at the bridge, the neck feel is close to that of my March '73 4001, perhaps a bit thicker, but nothing like some of the later fat necks in some years.  The HB-2 pickups are very much Rick-like with a bit more aggression available from them.  These are sleeper basses, really.

I have a '78 3001 that is actually my favorite Rick of the three I own. The prices have shot up though....

I paid just a few dead presidents for it in the mid 90s.
