He actually plays it quite a bit in the last part of the current set list though when I heard him a few days ago in Hamburg his sound was nowhere near as plonky.

Looks like he's having remorse halfway through the song for using the plonky pick sound, then he goes to the amp, turns down the volume and plays fingerstyle.
Either way, I still prefer Hendrix's version
