A vast improvement. What's going into the cavity?

Haven't decide on the pickup.  Large hole is just to lighten the body as much as possible.

"I mixed flat black primer/surfacer with gloss white nitro and Mohawk 'Flash Off. "

THAT's a flash of creativity.

Thanks, I didn't have any Speedball ink. ;D

Seriously, on the Flash-Off:

From the Mohawk catalog:

"Used to improve the flow of lacquers and sealers without slowing the drying. Additions of one or two ounces of Flash-Off™ control solvent per gallon of lacquer will eliminate overspray roughness in the finish and improve the overall smoothness. Not a blush retarder."

It works well since color sanding (wet sanding) isn't an option with a matte finish.
I bought a gallon about five years ago and still have a lifetime supply.  I keep a small amount in a mason jar, whatever the stuff is it eats the rubber seal on the lids.  I'm guessing the state of California might consider it a carcinogen. ;D

I Rat Waxed the P body.  It definitely seems to work per instructions.  Was absorbed by the finish and wiped off matte.

I found this Allparts black pearl guard in a parts drawer, no idea where it came from.  I may black out the 3 ply and matte the pearl and give it a shot.  I've been leaning toward a DiMarzio P anyway.

Heck, I like the thin white accent!

But I think I'd like it either way.

Works well with that pickguard.

Never heard of Rat Wax before. Looks like a good product for my matte finishes.

So far I'm happy with it.  They have coupons pretty often, last one was 25% off a few days ago.

Same here but the white is nice contrast.

I sanded a piece of black pearl with 1800 micromesh and rat waxed it.  I think that's the way to go.

Considering blacked out hardware, staining the rosewood fretboard with Fiebings black, and using Labella tapes for full stealth mode.  Probably hit the white on the p/g with a red sharpie like this.

Plus 'Speedier Knobs' (micromeshed and rat waxed).

Been on the DL for the last month or so with a sore arm.  Back on the job, color sanded, buffed and polished VerZo.

Installed ferrules, wired, and buttoned up.

Blacked out...you know those kids...

Assembled, strung with chromes and on shakedown cruise.  The wide five (1-7/8" at the nut) naked wenge neck, sanded to 2000, is a treat.  Balance is great with front strap button at the 12th fret and weight's not too bad considering the wenge/ebony combo.  It's a stiffy!

So with this one we send 2016 into the sunset.  Sunset Orange Metallic that is.  Miss you, Doc!
