The finish is working out pretty well considering I had to go all the way down to 180 between the second and third clearcoat applications.  Managed to do it with no sand thrus.  Had that happened it would have been back to square one.

I think I put on way more metal flake than I needed to.  It should be a lot easier next time, not to mention cheaper.  Live and learn!

Clear over CAR over flake over black:

Sanded 180, 240, 320, 400.

Final coats of clear, about 15 in all.

Gets color sanded and buffed next week.

Trussrod cover on buffed headstock.  Nice to have one that does something!

Flies to Switzerland when it's done for June 13th first gig.

Off to Switzerland, hopefully in time to clear customs for a June 13 gig.

7.6 lbs.  32" scale makes for a very playable bass.  Unfortunately the pictures don't do it justice, .004 micro flake is impossible to photograph properly.  Beyond me, anyway.

The overall bass is about 2" shorter than my 34" REV, mainly due to the small 2+2 headstock.  Body joins the neck past 18th+ fret so there's easy access all the way to the 21st.  Zero neck dive.

Thanks, guys!  I'll share pics if I get them.  Here's a video from the band, they're from Lausanne:

Customer originally spec'd a black pickguard.  I slipped up and made a white one.  He cordially pointed out my error in time for me to cut a black one and matching TR cover.

You might capture some of the effect with a close-up video...?

The individual .004 flakes are about the size of a pinpoint and the holo flakes reflect back out of focus into a lens.
