Road 220 amp ?
« on: August 27, 2013, 05:42:10 PM »
I have an old Road 220 amplifier head and was wondering what it is worth ?

It's in working condition but had a fair amount of wear on it.

not much.  I had a 220 head and the matching 18 speaker cab.   Found one buyer on TB for about 250 for both.....

Sounds about right. I think they sound pretty good, but they's too dang heavy!

Road, along with Earth, were ripoffs of Peavey and Fender. They eventually morphed into Kustom IIRC.

I always thought Road was the next adventure for Bud Ross after he sold Kustom...well...if Wikipedia can be believed, he lost Kustom in a poker game...

Sort of like Musicman was to Fender...

Their amps sound good, if I recall.

I had a Road 440 (I think that's what it was called) in 81/82. My first bass head. It sounded great but wasn't an Ampeg (I was 16, what did I know?) so I sold it off and got an SVT. And immediately missed the Road! Took the SVT back and got an 800RB.

They never turn up around here. I've seen a couple of 4x12 PA/guitar cabs and that's it. That 440 looks like an Acoustic.
