They aren't bad sounding at all but there was really nothing to set them apart from the competition. Martin never did seem to care about promoting them. They look dated today.

Last one I saw here was maybe 10 years ago and was priced way below this one.

I think it looks still quite modern. A bit Spector-ish.

That article is nice. I use it to make an article about it for our magazine.

That is a REALLY odd headstock design.  Bleah....

Music was better when ugly people were allowed to make it.

The body shape is right up my alley though.
But wood stripes, no thanks, I never liked that look.

That case is an Ibanez case, I'm pretty sure. I had one exactly like it that came with my '82 Blazer.
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

At least those have the semi-phallic tip pointing up, not down.  Better juju.

The body on those Martins looks like an out-of-shape, overweight, NR T-bird. I've played a couple; even having Model One's, they sound very bland.

Striped body and a set neck, a combination I will never understand.
The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023
