In praise of the MOD-BAR

Had one installed on the evertilt bridge on my EB1 and now I have much better and more even response across all strings. It's also much easier to tune the E string.
It took a little work to make it fit but Kevin Chubbuck did a great job installing it. Here's his blog along with some great photos of the process and my EB1.

Man, you have got some beautiful basses! You wouldn't happen to be into Felix Pappalardi would you?  ;D

I almost got one of those mod-bars for my Melody Maker bass, but never went through with it (bass is now gone). I don't think I need one for my Triumph - use LaBellas which don't have the silk at the ball end.

Felix was the man. Without him, my bass wouldn't exist besides the 50's version. They should have put his signature on the reissue.

Agreed. And without Gail Collins, Felix might still exist. It's beyond me how she got off so lightly.

It's a shame how things ended for Felix. I try to focus on the good things that came from his Lifetime and union with Gail. Fact is her name is on most every writing credit alongside Felix's. She did all the album art and painted Felix's basses. That song "My Lady" can bring me to tears.

All her art (I've seen) is jarring and a psychologist would find it (as I do) fascinating, imho...

If you consider cubism jarring, then I guess so. Looks like she borrowed a little from Picasso's style to me.
