Hi gang, long time between posts but I have a question.
Anyone here own an old TAK solidbody? they only made 2 models GB400 and GB410 to compliment their GX guitars from the same time period.

They were bizzare looking, like a Jackson Kelly "EXTREME"
I bought this GB400 a few months ago while randomly looking for something else for the rarity and novelty, Tak says only 100 made between the 2 models and who knows how many were never sold and thrown away....
I took this pic as a joke to show how much longer it is than your "standard bass"

crazy bridge:

the only other person I know that owns one is Dave Vincent from Morbid Angel, and I thought he would sell his to me so I could have a pair --haha not a chance.

here is the GB410 just in case someone used to own one of these:

clips? well sort of. I play lefty and one of those people who can play inverted strings so I'll never use it live, but in the jamroom --sure why not?
As a collector of unique basses, I have a lot of righties among the lefties. The guy who had it said he bought it from the band ( Dave's backup unit ) when the band was being endorsed by Dean and Dave was never to use it again. He said he used it for a few years in a metal band since he was into that "look" as well, gave up the band and had it hanging on his wall since 1992. Even though it was not the one in this picture it was still a cool toy to have.
KINDA LOOKS LIKE STEVE HARRIS...lol

here's a metal riff I did with it when I got it recorded live on my camcorder, then it went on a wall hanger to live out it's life at my house as a conversation piece. The use of a pick on this clip was just for me to use for practice since I normally play with my fingers and the strings on it have been on it since 1992 so it sounded better :).

The GB410 sort of reminds me of an Eko Rokes.

I have always liked the unusual guitars and basses from outside the USA that a lot of people still have.
Names we here in the US would never have known about, body styles so far from the "fender" norm, I appreciate them all :)

It reminds me of a mutated bastard child of an EB-1 and a Flying V.    8)

EKO "rocketship" body on the GB410? sure looks like it.

but the 400? a designer who was looking at a explorer on acid?
I would LOVE to know what they were thinking.

The folks on the Takamine forum are into the acoustics and like everywhere else no help in finding out any real details about them, a price, a catalog page....nothing :(
just pretty much what I said in the first post.
Even the detail on the pinstriping is nice. It is not a solid paintline:

The smaller model (GB410) is like a metal style Hofner Beatle bass.

there WAS one on Ebay in Feb and I saved the page, but I just did not have the cash to buy it at that moment, and never knew it was so sought after....At least I know if I do sell it, I can get a couple dollars for it.
The one on Ebay had a really chewed up point and STILL got 500 bucks which I was not willing to spend considering mine is pretty much perfect :):)
