This video of Belgian band Marble Sounds features my ex-bass, the Gibson Triumph that I sold a little over a year ago.

You sold your Triumph?  :o Wow, that relationship with that 20/20 chick IS SERIOUS after all.

Relax Uwe.
I sold it when my former company (with Tom) had ended. And the new one wasn't up and running yet. It was a transitional period of about two months without income. The Triumph was the only bass (that I could part with) that would bring in any serious money.

Since it has a sound and playability that is almost identical to my beloved Les Paul Bass it wasn't that hard to let go. Whenever I wanted that sound and that character I've always preferred that Les Paul Bass over the Triumph anyway.

Maybe I'll buy one back some day.

Sometimes you have to miss the nineties too. Wish Gibson made more of these 5 string Les Paul basses.

Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

Sounds like a TCT electronics driven Standard alright though you don't have to dial it quite as "bony" as that. Incidentally (and I'm sure only by accident), Gibson have never made a bad 5er. From the first Gibson V to the 5er Les Pauls to the 5er Studio TBs and today's 5er EBs, they are all even sounding beasts with mighty B strings.

Which reminds me of the Continental V I was cruelly bereft of ...  :-\

That reminds me, wonder if that V bass that isn't actually a V shape is going to become a reality?

I'll be surprised if it ever shows up. For all we know, there may not even be a prototype. A couple of the sites that had it listed no longer show it. And Anderton's in the UK still has a page for it but it says:

This product is currently unavailable
We may not yet have a price for this item
This product may be discontinued

I will never again get into expectant mode regarding anything from the House of Gibson containing the number "V". The amount of derision that has been poured on me in this forum of forums has left me a broken man.  :-X

Not the Stones, either.  :)

Now-US Senator Al Franken (D-MN) as Mick and the late Tom Davis as Keith. It's the finale of a comedy gig they did in 1982 and released later as a movie, but IMDB doesn't list any other cast members.

I don't remember Al ever being that fit... or scantily clad, now that I think about it.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)

In sad news, Eddie Spaghetti of the Supersuckers, who is famous for his black Les Paul Standard that he's used live and in the studio for the past two decades, was diagnosed with stage 3 oropharynx cancer. Here's hoping that his tough ol' rock 'n ass is going to beat that cancer but good!
