Swedish Bird Sighting
« on: January 18, 2008, 05:56:54 PM »
Mark's "Kids In America" video got me thinking about the version I saw a couple of years back by a Swedish girl pop duo called Shebang. Then I noticed a video of their cover of Sheena, and the bassist is playing a T-bird.

No idea who he is, or if they even have a regular backing band. Nothing I can find on their website, at least the English pages.

Oh yeah, I'm in love with Marina Ljung (the brunette).

The brunette reminds me somewhat of Jennifer Garner.

The band Shebang consists mainly of those two girls but the blonde has been replaced with another blonde (see Kids in America vid). Marina grew up in my neck of the woods and parts of the band I play in used to be on the same record label as Shebangs current label. At the time of that video they were endorsed by the Scandinavian Gibson wholesales company which equipped the backing band with Epiphones.

Thanks for the explanation, Daniel. I wasn't looking at the blonde(s), just Marina. :) I'm surprised I even noticed the bassist.

Damn, I love this place!  Bass?  When there's a hot brunette in the picture? ;D

Dave, I do question your judgement on this - I mean, come on - the blonde much hotter :o

I don't recall Kim Wilde being American either. Or her father and brother who wrote the song. Would an American have ever said "east California?"  :)

Who cares that it's not a great Sheena cover? I wasn't watching for that...or for the Epi Bird.  ;D

Both girls (or is it 3 girls) in the video's look good to me. I don't have a preferance for hair color.

In this, deplorably so, adolescent  innuendo-drenched and hardly bass-relevant thread, I would like to save what little decorum there is left by helpfully adding that I don't have hair color preferences either, but there should at least be a little of it.

Speaking of Kim Wilde: I always thought she sang like she had a running nose. And that "Flying to Cambodia" vid was plain dumb. Give me Cherie Currie of the Runaways anytime!
