The choke was made around a steel bolt, a washer and a nut. That was a Bill Lawrence design. He used the same choke in the L6-S. It's a humbucking choke, having two coils wound in opposite directions. The bolt acted as a core to the inductor.

Do you know what kind of wire and how much turns on this thingie? That could be handy!

edit: Just found this very interesting project. http://bigcat.fhsu.edu/biology/cbennett/rippercopy.html

That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought it used 42 gauge wire, but who knows? I'll have to try winding one and see how it goes.

Maybe I'll drop Bill Lawrence a line and see if he can shed any info on the inductor. It might be very similar to his Q filters.

this coil works very well:

   Cosmo Part Number: 2786-0
Part Description: Standard round core bobbin
Quick-Ship Part?:  No - Variable stock may be available. Please inquire.
  Part Dimensions:
Core Diameter   Flange Size   Length   Wall
  Front     Middle     Rear
.251   .640    dia.    .720       .040
No Middle Flange

one made for me by Curtis to 2.65 kohm dcr (the one that appears light blue) using the Cosmo bobbins:

this switch works very well too and it is cheap:

but modify it to look like this:

I can be true to you sweety until I find a nice medium scale with great breasts. ... CW

Q-filter is 3H, so those are close.

Where do you get that? Can you share a link?

This could come in very handy!
