So what's the deal? After years of assembling such a fine collection, you get up one day and say, let's get rid of it all?

And if he keeps some and this is what he's selling, I'd be very interested to know what he's keeping.

According to NYT, excess gear expected to bring $1,000,000.  Proceeds to his various charities.  Wife told him to thin the herd.

The Ampeg B-12 that was estimated to bring $2-400 went for over $950, which is about 30% above actual market value. The 65 Jazz that was estimated at $7k went for 12. Those were the only items I watched before and after.  If the others went similarly, there was a huge amount of money involved.
