Just noticed that the auction ends at a ridiculous time!

Maybe ridiculous for us, but the item is in Japan, probably ends middle of the afternoon there.

Yes, note the $159 shipping!!!!!!

I have been known to set an alarm for an odd wee hour to be sitting in front of the compooper at a critical moment....but not all your competition will do it.

I don't think I'm up for those shipping charges - I really hadn't looked closely enough to see that before.

I shall remain relatively sane!

It went for $255.00. I've had my eyes on that one, but was only prepared to go to about a hundred bucks. The shipping was to expensive, at least for my wallet. As I'm retired I have to watch closely on my expenses, especially since my old lady does the same. She's the kind of person who wouldn't let any company go bancrupt, especially not her own household. But a hundred bucks + shipping I could have kept under the radar...  :P
Never seen those basses before... really nice looking. Seems ol' Tetsu had something to do with that bass being constructed. Remember Tetsu? Ian McLagan in The Faces said they had some drinking problems in that band, but not like Tetsus. But he's still around, turning 65 this year. Lives in Japan.  ;D

Similar story here - thought it was a brilliant, barking mad bass (and a lot nicer looking than the Gibson BFG), but was put off by the £100 postage.

However, I can't really be buying any more basses - that's 7 now and I think it's high time I spent less time on eBay etc. and more time playing the damn things ;)

Isn't that within normal range for shipping a whole instrument to the US from Japan? IIRC other posted auctions from Japan have been at least $100.

Well, given today's market for Greco basses and the evident condition of that one, it was probably worth $400 to someone.

I really should have bought that bass........... :-\

The shipping was very reasonable, 3 day service to the US. That was only $10.00 more than what I paid to ship my Greco over from Japan 3-4 years ago.

Watched that one but I've got 2 of that color. One is like new(thanks RVL) and one that is "relic'd" plus a minor surface crack in the scarf joint in the neck for $59(top picture below). They play great, pickups sound like 60's T-Birds, and the fast/thin necks do NOT like standard scale Rotosounds. His $159 was a bit steep as my last Japan bass ran about $125 or so to get here EMS(a $172 purple one like that but it was covered with stickers, bottom picture).

$400 total is not bad. I've seen a purple-burst one go for $700 total(middle picture).
Eye candy of the above is attached

Absolutely.  It costs me anything from $200 to $500 to ship basses from the US to Australia.  $150 is cheap.

It's the bottom line that counts and $400 total very reasonable IMO.
