Buying advice request: PEAVEY BASS AMP MUSICIAN 400
« on: December 07, 2010, 12:07:36 PM »
Any body here have any experience with the Amp listed in the title?
There's a local guy selling one with a Peavey 4x12 Cab for $400:

Any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks,
Steve

I have a friend who considers that amp to be the epitome of tone, but I don't really care for it. It was one of the amps that established the "Peavey sound." It's 200 watts and that price is decent, but you won't get much low end out of that combination. Expect a lot of upper mids with a subdued bottom and low midrange and not much in the very highs.

Thanks for the reply.  I actually did pass on it yesterday, and judging by your description I'll probably be happier spending a few more bucks on a different rig.
Much appreciated!!

Sorry that I hadn't said anything sooner. The "unread posts" link doesn't always bring up all the ones I've not actually read.
