That was back in the days before Metallica had enough money to buy themselves the "respectability" they now enjoy, and the Grammy committee was faced with the prospect of handing the award over to a bunch of pimply-faced, leather-clad headbangers, so they did the only thing they could and handed it over to Jethro Tull.

I'm quite surprised that they don't now have a shirt that says "Metallica: sucking bigtime since 1991."
