I wouldn't be surprised if this Les Paul Bass has a neck repair hiding behind the refin (maybe even a replaced neck??).
The headstock looks wrong to me. The gold logo isn't correct. It should be mother of pearl. And there's no MOP crown inlay either. Looks more like an EB3 headstock/neck to me...

like this one (except wider, couldn't find the right pic soon enough):

this is how a Les Paul Bass headstock should look like:

Are you suggesting that a bass neck migrated from Maine to Georgia?

Maybe a swallow carried it. After delivering a migratory coconut. ;D

Wow, what a huge tongue these things have, a bit longer and it would be neck thru! This would be interesting for a long scale neck project. The Recording bodies are so plenty heavy, they'd still balance nicely and I always wondered what a full grown hobbit would sound like.

I was thinking exactly the same Uwe. :)
I sent the seller a question if he'd consider shipping to the Netherlands.

Looking at the comments, and considering Rob's interest in this, I have a feeling the bidding will get out of hand.  I'm probably out.

Wow, that's a lot of money for a serious project... With that guy on eBay selling Triumph necks, that could have been restored somewhat easily but I'm not ready to be spending on too many things just yet. We've got those NRs to think of!
