Cool Rics on eBay / Reverb / Craigslist
« on: March 27, 2009, 04:51:47 AM »
Another one-off SPC from ric-outlet... the body wings were originally made for a 4002.

A rare white '72 with checkerboard binding, missing treble pickup surround:

A restored/refinished '69:

There's also a Shadow and a nice Azureglo with a reasonable BIN price.

No affiliation to any of those.

Yeah, the price on that SPC is going to get nutty. Too bad about the black hardware.  :-\

I just snagged an old Ric pickup off Ebay, and am also bidding on a Ric wiring harness.  Next project bass is about ready to begin.  Combo of Les Paul and Ric ideas.

Maybe you can combine an exploding "R" tailpiece with a snapping mahogany headstock.

Drop-dead gorgeous Walnut 4001, double bound (inner white, outer black), black TRC and guard. Looks a lot like the Walnut 4002 prototype on the Smith book (p.211).

Ted Staberow over at the RRF says that it's a Walnut 4001 with double binding and that RIC has made a few like that. Still I think there's something special about this one, and it could be some sort of a test instrument. The non-stamped jack plate, the beveled edge guard (4002's had beveled edge guards), and what looks like a beveled-edge Plexi TRC.

I even like the black trim on that one. I have to agree with you, that must be some sort of special experiment.

Haha! You remember the famous exploding "R" tailpiece too? Now that was funny ;D

I love that all white 72, my favorite Rick color combination.

I have learned that RRF member Bryce Gracey was its previous owner, he posted this:

"i bought the bass from the original owner, he had a friend from Ric that helped him put the finish package together.

i'm not sure how it skipped a serial # - pssibly due to the shop worker passing it off directly to his friend?"
