There were neck-thru 4000's. I was stupid enough to let one go in 2002. Not as nice as this one though.

Yes, ALL Rick 4000 basses from the beginning until mid 1972 were neck through. But it appears that ALL Rick 4000 basses after mid 1972 were set neck. Now, I'm being specific here: The single-pickup 4000 model. Not the full-dress 4001. When we get into other models, that's a different story.

I don't mind the set-neck construction, in fact it's an advantage if you ever need to correct the neck angle. But the set-necks also had off-axis bodies, which were always a turn-off for me.

Real nice 4003S/8 at a not so nice price. I hear they're quite negotiable though.

Standard high gain in place of the horseshoe, and remnants of a pot leaf sticker on the back.  Curious to see what they get for it. Real nice bass, and you don't have to worry about making the first scratch in the finish.

Burgundy, not Ruby. All of Ruby's permutations are metallic red. This is translucent red - you can see the shedua strip in the set neck through the color.
