Banana + white guards = Chris Squire.

4004 Cheyenne Mk I, first year of production, real beauty and the usual Olivia's hi-res bass porn. $1,940 BIN.

Well, technically, 1992 was the first "year" of the Cheyenne II, but a '93 could have been made within the first year of production. :) A beauty none the less. I have a '93 and it's one of my faves.

That one looks extra nice, and the BIN is reasonable in today's market.

How late did they make the 4000's? They are strangely attractive.

But then again, all Rics are..

Yes, they are. The 4000 lasted into the early 1980s. From mid 1972 until the end, the 4000 had a common chassis with the unlisted 4001S, with a two-piece body and a set neck. Note how the reinforcing shedua strip is seen in the neck but not the body. Officially, the 4001, 4000, and 4001S ceased production in 1980, but remained in the catalog for purchase for several more years as inventory was sold off.

Wow, that late. Did they use the same body routing as the 4001? like the esquires?

As far as I can tell, sometimes. It was easy to take a body plank off the line and rout it for either one or two pickups (and space for the associated pots and wiring). Sometimes one made for two pickups was finished up as a 4000 (single pickup). Some started as a single pickup model and had additional routing done for two. None of it affected the neck attachment, apparently.

I imagine the body blanks for the 4001 would be different that the 4000 and 4001S with the 4001 being neck through, though.

Certainly. The 4001 (and 4003) had body "wings" that flanked the neck-through plank.
