If I still did drugs, I'd want some of what Henry J and the design team are smokin'
They do this, but no NR 'Bird, lousy Rat Bastards.  >:(

Resident T Bird playing Drag Queen www.thenastyhabits.com  "Impülsivê", the new lush fragrance as worn by the unbelievable Fräulein Rômmélle! Traces of black patent leather, Panzer grease, mahogany and model train oil mingle and combust to one sheer sensation ...

They must have decided that a regular Explorer didn't have enough neck dive, and this was the solution.

You should submit that to Gibson as a new corporate slogan.

On the positive side, Gibson has figured out how to charge (I am guessing) premium prices for less wood.  The next step would be to make this kind of crap a Guitar of the Month and make it out of pressed wood, or even plastic. But for the consumer, one would hope these would have the resale value of THE PAUL and THE SG, or even a Sonex.  Then an enterprising young chap could glue a Korina or something veneer on the top and back to have a nice looking Explorer for cheap.  Maybe even rip off the neck and make an Explorer bass.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

OK, now I've had time to think about this. I reckon that Kramer or Travis Bean need to do a version like this in Alloy! I mean it already looks like the frame from an aircraft, why not go to the people who do this stuff!  ;D

Maybe Lockheed or Boeing would be the ticket. Aluminum alloy, drilled full of holes ,and throw in some extra features like hydraulic machine heads and bridge. Maybe  even toss  a bag of peanuts into the flight case . :)

Do it in carbon fiber with a solid lead insert in the butt to balance the neck dive, and charge eleventy-billion dollars for it.

I don't think they would have brought this one out, hadn't the similarly oreficed Flying V issued as GoM last year done well. A collectors' item, no doubt. I kind of like the design approach, so puristic ... Before you hit me now, has anybody played one of those things to judge how they sound?

It just dawned on me ... Holy Explorer is like Holy Flying V a pun ... Ouch, that took a long time to settle.  :-[

If this was an Explorer bass, I'd be all over it. You could even play it naked and people would immediately notice, especially if the then superfluous strap would be replaced by other, more manly options of holding the bass in place.
