They're kind of cartoonish, but no doubt this is intentional. It's part of Flea's public image. His fans will probably go for them.

Yeah, I showed these basses to some young guys and girls around here and they all like 'm. Not my cup of tea, but I think shops will look better with those basses hanging on the wall:)

Maybe it's also meant as a throwback to the Musicman cutlass that Flea played in the band's early days.
